Sharanya S. Bettadapura, MS
Sharanya graduated in 2023 with her MS in Human Disease and Genetics and moved to UW to begin work in the HEART Lab. Now her studies focus on uncovering a novel role for the heart in regulating circadian rhythms in non-cardiac tissue.
Music and Sanskrit are two of her most cherished hobbies that bring her immense joy. They enrich her personal and intellectual growth and blend the beauty of art with the wisdom of ancient texts.

Sushumna B. Satyanarayana, MS
Sushumna was born and raised in Bangalore, India. She earned a Masters in Human disease and Genetics in 2023. Currently a PhD student in the HEART Lab, Sushumna is working on understanding mechanisms of RV diabetic cardiomyopathy.

David Tangeman, BS
David was born and raised in Laramie, Wyoming, and earned his B.S. in Kinesiology and Health Promotion from the University of Wyoming. He joined the HEART Lab in 2024 as an undergraduate researcher, where he developed a strong interest in cardiac physiology. This experience motivated him to pursue a master’s degree and continue advancing his work in cardiovascular research. Outside of the lab, he enjoys staying active. Whether it’s playing soccer, hitting the golf course, or skiing in the Colorado mountains during the winter, he appreciates any chance to spend time outdoors.
Jaden Campbell, BS

Jaden grew up close by in Saratoga, Wyoming. She graduated from the University of Wyoming in May of 2026 as a double-major in Biology and Physiology. Currently a Master's student in the HEART lab, her research focuses on understanding diastolic heart dysfunction in aging women.

Congratulations to our recent graduates from the HEART lab!
Angelique Luna: Angelique successfully defended her thesis about the role that MnSOD plays in protecting the diabetic heart from oxidative stress. She now has an MS in Kinesiology and Health and plans to obtain her PhD at the University of Houston.
Jaden Campbell: Jaden recently graduated with her BS in Physiology. She plans to stay on at the Bruns lab as a Master's student, studying diastolic heart dysfunction in aging women
